A month-long Entrepreneurship Development Program has been launched in Jhenaidah under the slogan “Udyokta Hobo, Desh Gorbo,” jointly organised by Bangladesh Bank and Jamuna Bank PLC.
The initiative, inaugurated on October 30, falls under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation (SICIP) project of the Finance Division, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Md Shahidul Islam, deputy managing director and chief risk officer of Jamuna Bank, presided over the opening ceremony, while Bangladesh Bank additional director and SICIP project director Md Nazrul Islam attended as chief guest and formally inaugurated the programme.
Bangladesh Bank executive director Md Samsul Alam was present as special guest. N H M Nusrat, head of SME (Marketing), and Mohammad Kabir Hossain, Khulna area head of Jamuna Bank, also attended the event.
The training aims to build the capacity of both new and existing entrepreneurs through skill development and financial literacy, helping them access formal banking services and expand their ventures sustainably.
Senior officials from Bangladesh Bank and Jamuna Bank, along with a large number of local entrepreneurs, took part in the ceremony. Speakers expressed hope that the initiative would boost entrepreneurship and financial inclusion in rural and semi-urban areas.
