Nine more children have died in the country in the last 24 hours from measles and measles-like symptoms. Among them, the Directorate General of Health Services has confirmed that one child died from measles.
The remaining eight children died with measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 698 children were admitted to hospitals across the country with measles-like symptoms, and measles was confirmed in 176 individuals.
This information was provided in the latest report from the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday. The figures cover the period from 8am on 13 April to 8am on 14 April.
The child whose measles death was confirmed in the last 24 hours was from Chattogram. Among the eight children who died with measles-like symptoms, six were from Dhaka division, one from Chattogram, and one from Rajshahi.
During this period, the highest number of measles cases, 157, were confirmed in Dhaka division. Thirteen measles cases were confirmed in Rajshahi division, while three measles cases each were confirmed in Chattogram and Khulna divisions.
The Directorate General of Health Services said that in the last 24 hours, measles-like symptoms were observed in 1,105 people across the country, of whom 485 were from Dhaka division.
During the same period, 698 people with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals, of whom 290 were in Dhaka division. The fewest patients were admitted in Rangpur (8) and Mymensingh (16).
Additionally, 935 people admitted with measles-like symptoms were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours. Among them, Chattogram division saw the highest number of discharges at 411, followed by Dhaka division with 258.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services report, a total of 31 children have died from measles from March 15 to date (29 days). During this period, 164 children have died with measles-like symptoms.
Furthermore, among the 15,653 people who presented with measles-like symptoms over the past 29 days, 11,652 were admitted to hospitals. Among them, measles was confirmed in 2,897 individuals, and 9,304 people have recovered and returned home from hospitals.
