The 71st Indian National Film Awards ceremony was held in New Delhi, India. The country’s President Draupadi Murmu presented the awards to the winners on Tuesday.
For the first time in almost three decades, Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan has received the National Film Award of India. However, several other film artists have received the national-level crown along with him.
According to Indian media sources, this year Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Actor award for the film ‘Jawan’. While receiving the award, Shah Rukh looked at the audience and threw a flying kiss as a sign of love, which made the audience excited.
Popular actor Vikrant Massey jointly received the award in the same category. He won this award for his acclaimed film ’12th Fail’. The film is based on the true story of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma.
In addition, Rani Mukerji received the Best Actress award for her outstanding performance in the film ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway’, the story of which is based on a true story: centred around an Indian mother who fought a legal battle against the government of Norway to get her children back in her custody.
When the list of awardees was announced last August, she shared her reaction to the Indian media. The actress said, ‘I am really happy and proud. This is going to be my first national award in my 30-year film career.’
Meanwhile, South megastar Mohanlal was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award on the same stage.
