A military helicopter crash in Qatar early Sunday claimed the lives of seven people, including three Turkish nationals, the Turkish Ministry of Defense confirmed.
According to Turkish authorities, one of the victims was a Turkish soldier, while the other two were security personnel from ASELSAN, a Turkish defense manufacturing company. The remaining four fatalities were members of the Qatari Armed Forces, report Al Jazeera.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said the helicopter experienced a mechanical failure while performing a routine mission.
Initial reports had indicated six deaths and one missing person, but later statements confirmed all seven passengers were killed and identified the Turkish victims.
The ministry also stated that six bodies have been recovered so far. An official investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash.
