Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that BNP plans to lead the country forward through economic reform, skills development, and technological advancement.

He made the remarks at the Eid reunion of the Pekuah Government Model GMC Institution Alumni Association in Pekuah, Cox’s Bazar on Sunday.

Salahuddin Ahmed, also the lawmaker Cox’s Bazar-01 constituency, criticised the traditional education system, saying it has produced millions of unemployed graduates. “Our goal is to restructure the education system to create capable, job-ready citizens rather than merely degree holders,” he said.

He stressed the importance of technical and vocational education, calling for it to be made mandatory to build a competent workforce. The minister added that the government has already started implementing its election pledges, including initiatives to empower women through the Family Card programme.

The minister also highlighted support for the agricultural sector, announcing that farmers would soon receive agriculture cards. He noted that in his first Cabinet meeting, the government waived agricultural loans of up to Tk10,000 with interest relief to ease the financial burden on farmers.

The event was attended by Salahuddin Ahmed’s wife, former MP Advocate Hasina Ahmed, as a special guest.
