A state-of-the-art 5G network was inaugurated at Chattogram Port on Monday, marking another step in its drive to become a modern, technology-driven and smart port, officials said.
Installed by Axentec, the 5G network is expected to make the port’s digital operations more dynamic, secure and efficient.
The formal inauguration ceremony was held at the boardroom of the Chattogram Port Authority at around 1:00pm, with CPA Chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman inaugurating the network as the chief guest.
Significant improvements are expected in automated port operations, real-time data exchange, security surveillance systems and future smart port initiatives with the introduction of the advanced 5G network, speakers said at the event.
High-speed and uninterrupted connectivity will play a crucial role in improving the port’s overall operational efficiency, the port chairman said.
The launch of the 5G network is expected to substantially strengthen the technological capabilities of Chattogram Port and help it deliver international-standard services while keeping pace with global developments in port management and logistics, officials said.
CPA Member for Harbour and Marine Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah and Member for Engineering Commodore Md Mazharul Islam Jewel attended the programme as special guests.
Director for Administration Md Omar Farooq, System Analyst Ekram Chowdhury and Secretary Mohammad Azizul Maula, along with other senior officials of the port authority, were present.
Axentec Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Adil Hossain Noble, accompanied by other senior executives of the company, participated in the ceremony.
