The district administration and health department have temporarily closed four private hospitals and diagnostic centres in Chandina upazila of Cumilla over various irregularities.
The hospitals are Ibne Sina Hospital, New Chandina Medical Center (Insaf Community Hospital), an unnamed private hospital and Doa Diagnostic Center.
Cumilla Deputy Civil Surgeon Reza Mohammad Sarwar Akbar confirmed the closures on Friday, saying the institutions have been given seven days to correct the irregularities and submit a compliance report to the Civil Surgeon’s office.
According to sources, several centres were operating without valid licences, had no Bengali price lists, lacked pathological fridges or colour-coded bins, and were running X-ray rooms without technicians. Dengue cases went unreported, expired reagents were found in use and some facilities reportedly had no doctors, technicians or cleaners on duty.
Dr Akbar said routine inspections at private hospitals and diagnostic centres across the district will continue to ensure quality healthcare services.
