US Central Command says it has completed its seventh consecutive night of strikes on Iran, employing “fighter aircraft, aerial drones and warships” to hit the country’s “surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities”.
The southern cities of Lar, Jask, Sirik, Bushehr and Bandar Abbas have reportedly been targeted, along with Qeshm Island, Ahvaz and the central city of Yazd, reports Al Jazeera.
Iranian state media says at least three people have been killed and eight others wounded in attacks in Hormozgan province which borders the Strait of Hormuz.
US said a claim by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards that two oil tankers have exploded in the strait after hitting mines in the international waterway is “false”.
Meanwhile, Iran’s army said that it struck US military targets in Kuwait and Jordan in response to American attacks, according to a statement carried by the Iranian state broadcaster on Saturday, AFP reports.
In Kuwait, Iranian forces targeted an ammunition depot at the Al-Adiri camp, the headquarters buildings and ammunition depots at the Ali Al-Salem base and several communication bridges.
In Jordan, fuel tanks at the Al-Azraq base were also targeted, the state broadcaster said on Telegram.
Kuwait’s army wrote on X on Saturday that explosions may be heard as a result of “air defense systems intercepting hostile targets”.
Air raid sirens were also sounded in Bahrain, which hosts a major US naval base, the country’s interior ministry said.
