Three people were killed and 20 others injured when a passenger bus collided head-on with a sand-laden hydraulic truck in Gopalganj on Tuesday afternoon.
The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.
The accident occurred in front of a cluster village in Boultali area of Sadar upazila on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat road.
Police and witnesses said a bus of Sonali Paribahan was travelling from Madaripur to Gopalganj when it collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
The bus fell into a roadside ditch, while the truck was badly damaged in the crash.
The truck driver died on the spot. At least 20 bus passengers were injured in the accident.
Firefighters and police rushed to the scene after being informed and, with the help of local residents, rescued the injured and took them to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital.
The truck helper and a female passenger of the bus, who were critically injured, later died at the hospital, police said.
Police said further details would be available after the identities of the victims are confirmed and the circumstances of the crash are investigated.
