Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 26 leaders and activists of the Awami League (whose activities are currently banned), and its affiliated organisations in separate raids across the capital.
The arrests were made on Monday during operations in different areas of Dhaka, a press release said on Tuesday.
Of the arrestees, 10 were arrested from Dhanmondi while two were arrested from Ramna, one from Bangshal, two from Khilkhet, one from Kadamtali, eight from Mohammadpur, one from Mirpur and one from Turag.
Authorities said such operations will continue to maintain public safety and law and order. Legal proceedings against those arrested are currently underway.
