Two drug traffickers were arrested along with yaba worth nearly Tk40 million during an operation in the Naf River in Teknaf, conducted by the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
Coast Guard Media Officer Siam-ul-Haq informed the media of the matter on Wednesday morning.
He said that acting on a tip-off, a special patrol team from the Coast Guard Teknaf Station carried out the operation at around 1pm on Tuesday near Naitongpara in the Naf River.
During the operation, the team searched a wooden boat and recovered 75,000 pieces of yaba worth about Tk37.5 million, arresting two traffickers found on board.
The Coast Guard said the recovered yaba, the boat used in the trafficking and the two detainees were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for legal action.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq said the Bangladesh Coast Guard’s operations to prevent drug trafficking would continue.
