Two people were killed when a train collided with a soil-laden truck at a level crossing in the Akkas Market area of Pubail, Gazipur, on Tuesday night.
The victims were identified as Babul Khan, the truck’s helper and son of Shah Alam from Kamarpur in Abdullahpur, Uttara, and Ujjal Hossain, the driver and son of Kurman Ali from Poyla Purbo Para in Ghior upazila of Manikganj.
According to Joydebpur Railway Junction Station Master Mahmudul Hasan, the accident occurred when the truck became stranded on the railway tracks. It was struck by the high-speed Panchagarh Express, leaving the vehicle severely damaged and both occupants dead at the scene.
Railway police later recovered the bodies and sent them to the morgue at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.
