Two people, including a sergeant of the Bangladesh Army, were killed in a head-on collision between an army cargo truck and a passenger bus in Phulpur, Mymensingh. At least 10 other people were injured in the incident.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance and Administration) Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter. The deceased have been identified as army truck driver Sergeant Rezaul Karim and bus driver Abdul Baset.
He stated that the accident occurred at around 10:45am on Wednesday when a Mymensingh-bound army cargo truck collided with a Sherpur-bound passenger bus in front of Kakoli Rice Mill in the Balia Mor area on Mymensingh-Haluaghat road.
He further mentioned that the sergeant was critically injured and was transported to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. However, as his condition deteriorated during the journey, he was taken to Tarakanda Upazila Health Complex, where the army sergeant passed away.
