The first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad will continue until April 30 following a decision taken at a meeting of the Parliamentary Business Advisory Committee on Saturday.
The meeting was held at the cabinet room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed in the chair, according to a press release issued by the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat.
Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman attended the meeting.
Other participants included Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur Rahman, Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Law Minister Asaduzzaman, Chief Whip Nurul Islam, Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, ATM Azharul Islam and Muhammad Naushad Zamir.
The committee discussed the duration and allocation of time for conducting the business of the first parliamentary session.
It was decided that a total of 50 hours would be allocated for discussion on the President’s speech.
The session will be held daily at 3:00pm except on government holidays.
The Speaker has been authorised to make any necessary changes to the schedule or duration of the session.
A total of 468 questions have been submitted for the session, including eight for the prime minister and 460 for other ministers.
In addition, 27 notices to draw attention under Rule 71 and 97 notices of motions under Rule 131 have been received.
Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Secretary Kaniz Maula provided secretarial support at the meeting, which was also attended by senior officials of the secretariat.
