Fifteen senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) have joined a specialised training programme in Kunming, Yunnan province of China.
The programme, organised with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, will run from 2 to 8 June.
The officials have already reached China to take part in the training, according to sources.
Under the programme, they will gain direct exposure to China’s administrative management, governance practices, development planning, local government operations and modernisation process.
They will also visit different institutions and take part in exchange meetings during the training period.
The participating officials include Mohammad Zakaria, Atikur Rahman Rumon, Julia Moin, Md Monirul Islam Patwary, Jasim Akhtar, Md Mehedul Islam, Mohammad Abdul Jabbar, Md Mahbubur Rahman, Anwarul Halim, Tarique Hasan, Mohammad Nasir Uddin Sarwar, SM Parvez, Md Abdus Sattar Patwari, Mohammad Mamun Shibli and Md Ujjal Hossain.
Stakeholders believe the programme will help enhance skills and capacity of government officials and contribute positively to strengthening Bangladesh–China relations.
At a reception in Dhaka, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen said recent high-level engagement and cooperation between Bangladesh and China have further strengthened ties.
He said the training programme will play an important role in mutual relations and knowledge exchange between the two countries.
The ambassador expressed hope that the participants would apply their learning from China’s development experience in Bangladesh’s development activities after returning home.
Prime Minister’s adviser Md Ismail Zabihullah welcomed the Chinese initiative, saying administrative cooperation and exchange of governance experience between the two countries would expand further.
He also expressed hope that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Bangladesh and China would reach new heights.
