A total of 15 candidates from various political parties, including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, are set to contest the Narail-1 and Narail-2 constituencies in the 13th Parliamentary Election scheduled for 12 February.

District Election Officer Md A Salek confirmed that three candidates withdrew their nomination papers on Tuesday, the final deadline for withdrawal of candidacy.

In Narail-1, those who opted out of the race include Maulana Abdur Rahman of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish and independent candidate Gazi Mahabubaur Rahman. Meanwhile, for the Narail-2 constituency, Abdul Hannan Sardar of Khelafat Majlish withdrew his candidacy.

Following these withdrawals, seven candidates remain in the race for Narail-1. The contenders include Biswas Jahangir Alam (BNP), Maulana Md Obaidullah Kaiser (Jamaat-e-Islami), Abdul Aziz (Islami Andolan Bangladesh), and Md Milton Molya (Jatiya Party). The race also features three independent candidates: BM Nagib Hossain, SM Sajjad Hossain, and Sukesh Saha Anando.

In Narail-2, the competition consists of eight candidates. The prominent figures contesting this constituency are AZM Fariduzzaman Farhad (BNP), Ataur Rahman Bachchu (Jamaat-e-Islami), Maulana Tajul Islam (Islami Andolan Bangladesh), and Khondkar Fayekuzzaman Firoz (Jatiya Party).

Additionally, Nur Islam of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, Md Shoaib Ali of Bangladesh Sangskritik Muktijot, and independent candidates Md Monirul Islam and Farida Yasmin are contesting the election.
