At least 10 people were injured in a violent clash between two rival groups seeking to establish territorial dominance in Nagarkanda Upazila of Faridpur on Saturday afternoon.
The incident took place at approximately 4:30 pm in Goaldi village of Purapara Union, involving the Molla Group and the Talukdar Group.
According to police and local sources, a long-standing dispute existed between the Molla Group of Banagram and the Talukdar Group of neighbouring Goaldi village.
The Molla Group is reportedly led by Mashiur Molla, Nayan Molla, and Ziar Molla, while the rival faction is headed by Soleman and Rabi Talukdar.
The clash was triggered by an altercation over a trivial matter, which quickly escalated as members from both sides attacked each other with domestic weapons. Upon receiving the news, police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.
Nagarkanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rasul Samdani confirmed the incident, noting that the identities of those injured could not be immediately established.
The OC added that legal action regarding the matter is currently being processed.
