At least 10 people were injured in a clash centring the election rally of independent candidate Rumeen Farhana in Brahmanbaria.

The incident occurred around 8:30pm on Friday in Akhintara village of Noagaon union under Sarail upazila.

Eyewitnesses said tensions erupted when two supporters scuffled and argued over taking photographs after Rumeen Farhana reached the rally venue.

The situation quickly escalated, with groups from both sides engaging in a clash using sticks and locally made weapons. At least 10 activists were injured, some of whom received primary treatment, they said.

Following the clash, the rally was called off, sparking further unrest in the area. When the situation deteriorated, Rumeen Farhana left the venue. Local residents later managed to control the situation.

Sarail Police Station Officer-in-charge Manzur Kader Bhuiyan said, “We dispatched police to the scene after receiving reports. Legal action will be taken if a written complaint is filed. The area is currently calm.”
