Dr Zubaida Rahman, noted cardiologist and spouse of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, visited the family of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, the Inqilab Mancha convener and a prospective independent candidate for Dhaka-8 in the upcoming national election.
Hadi is currently undergoing treatment after sustaining gunshot wounds.
At around 9pm on Friday, Dr Zubaida met members of Hadi’s family at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. She expressed sympathy to Hadi’s brother and sister and spoke with colleagues who have been staying by his side at the hospital.
Present during the visit were Atiqur Rahman Rumon, convener of “Amra BNP Poribar” and member of the BNP Media Cell, and Dr Shah Muhammad Aman Ullah, director of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF).
Later, at around 11:30pm, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also visited Hadi at Evercare Hospital. He enquired about Hadi’s condition and spoke with his family members. Fakhrul demanded the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and exemplary punishment.
Hadi was shot on Friday after Juma prayers on Box Culvert Road in Bijoynagar, Dhaka. He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition and was subsequently transferred to Evercare Hospital.
