Khulna Division secured a thrilling 17-run victory over Dhaka Division in the 24th game of the NCL T20 2025 on 5 October. After winning the toss, Khulna opted to bat first and posted 187 for 7 in their 20 overs. In reply, Dhaka managed 169 for 9, falling short despite a fighting innings from their captain.
Soumya Sarkar and Imranuzzaman gave Khulna a solid start with a 51-run opening partnership. Imran scored 34 from 28 balls, including six fours and a six, before being dismissed by Mohammad Ripon Mondol, while Soumya added 24 from 19 deliveries.
Anamul Haque Bijoy failed to make an impact at number three, scoring just 3 before being caught off Taibur Rahman. Khulna’s innings was steadied by Afif Hossain and captain Mohammad Mithun, who shared a 68-run stand in 43 balls. Mithun contributed 41 off 28 balls with two fours and four sixes, while Afif was even more explosive, hitting 45 from 24 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes.
Ziaur Rahman finished the innings with a quick-fire 17 from 7 balls, including two sixes, as Khulna reached 189 for 7. Taibur Rahman was the pick of Dhaka’s bowlers with 4 wickets for 42 runs.
Chasing 188, Dhaka got off to a steady start with openers Ashiqur Rahman Shibli (23) and Zisan Alam (20) putting on 41 runs. Ziaur Rahman struck early, dismissing Zisan, while Mritunjoy Chowdhury also took two wickets. Captain Mahidul Islam Ankon top-scored with 47 from 36 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes, but lacked sufficient support from the middle order. Sumon Khan’s late surge of 21 off 9 balls proved insufficient, as Dhaka finished on 169 for 9.
Ziaur Rahman starred with both bat and ball, taking 4 for 28 and earning the Player of the Match award, while Mritunjoy Chowdhury contributed with two wickets.
