Despite numerous attempts to erase the name of former president Ziaur Rahman from history, the name that resides in people’s hearts cannot be removed, said Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee.
Speaking at a discussion meeting on Wednesday, Anee said, “As long as the country exists, the people of this country will remember him with respect.”
The minister further said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has restarted the excavation and re-excavation of canals, ponds, and water bodies to revitalise the rural economy.
“Through this initiative, water flow will increase, irrigation for agriculture will be ensured, fish production will increase, the navigability of rivers will return, and waterlogging will be eliminated,” he explained.
Anee also described Krishi Bank as a disciplined institution in the financial sector, noting that the bank is directly involved in improving the fate of the country’s people.
He expressed optimism that Krishi Bank will be able to meet the expectations of the people of the nation.
The discussion meeting was chaired by Faiz Uddin, General Secretary of the Krishi Bank Employees’ Union. Special guests included Member of Parliament Shahidul Islam Babu, Krishi Bank Board of Directors Chairman Mohammad Nurul Amin, and Managing Director Sanjia Binte Ali.
