Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has extended his heartfelt congratulations to celebrated architect Marina Tabassum for earning her second nomination for the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
The announcement came via a statement from the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser’s Office, highlighting Tabassum’s recognition for her project ‘Khudi Bari’, a climate-adaptive, low-cost, and mobile housing solution tailored for communities displaced by riverbank erosion.
While visiting the July Memorial Museum in Dhaka, Prof Yunus praised Tabassum’s architectural philosophy, saying, “Your work stands out not only for its visual elegance but also for its deep-rooted empathy and social consciousness.”
Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki was also present during the meeting.
Tabassum first received the Aga Khan Award in 2016 for her design of the Bait Ur Rouf Mosque in Dhaka, which earned acclaim for its minimalist beauty and community-centered design.
Reflecting on her latest achievement, the Chief Adviser remarked, “Your first award amplified a Bangladeshi voice on the global architectural stage. This new recognition carries that legacy even further.”
Marina Tabassum currently holds key roles in the country’s cultural sector, serving as Chairperson of the Bangladesh National Museum’s Board of Trustees and as Chief Adviser to the July Memorial Museum.
