Akhtar rescued him and initially took him to Bangladesh Medical College Hospital. Farhad was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where attending doctors declared him dead at around 4:30pm.

Akhtar alleged that local individuals – identified as Sabbir, Sohel, Arman, Kallu, Rana, and Ramiz, alongside several others – attacked Farhad with sharp weapons, shot him, and left him behind.

He further said that the suspects had prior enmity with Farhad and had repeatedly demanded extortion money from him at various times.
