Emon, also known as Alex Emon, the ringleader of the Alex Emon group, was hacked to death in a clash between two teenage gangs in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. The incident occurred around 4:30pm on Sunday on the slope of the Rayer Bazar Budhhijibi Embankment road under Mohammadpur Police Station.
Police have arrested three individuals from the scene. The arrested are Saif (23), Tuhin (20), and Rabbi Kazi (25).
Assistant Police Commissioner (AC) of DMP’s Mohammadpur Zone, Abdullah Al Mamun, said Emon, the ringleader of the Alex Emon group, was killed in the clash between the two teenage gangs. His body is at the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
He said three people were arrested immediately from the scene. Three machetes, one cutter, and one steel plate were recovered from them.
Local sources said there had been a long-standing rivalry between the Alex Emon group and the Arman-Shahrukh group over dominance in the Rayer Bazar area of Mohammadpur. As a result, a clash broke out between members of the two groups.
During the clash, Emon, also known as Alex Emon, the ringleader of the Alex Emon group, was seriously injured by sharp weapons from the rival group. He was later rescued and taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
It is to be noted that the deceased Alex Emon had 18 outstanding cases filed against him at the time of his death.
