Yash has addressed the controversy surrounding the intimate scenes in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, admitting that his wife, actor Radhika Pandit, was understandably uncomfortable watching them.
According to Hindustan Times, the actor discussed the issue during an appearance on Aap Ki Adalat with Rajat Sharma.
Responding to questions about his wife’s reaction, Yash said he believed “every partner” would feel uncomfortable in such a situation.
However, he stressed that the scenes were an important part of the story and that he had to step outside his comfort zone to portray them authentically.
Yash said he did not want to lie about Radhika’s reaction, admitting that she would not be happy about the scenes.
At the same time, he said she understood the demands of the profession because she was an actor herself.
According to Yash, Radhika trusts him and understands the difference between his personal and professional identities.
He explained that while he is performing, she sees him as an actor playing a role rather than simply as her husband.
The actor also defended the film’s controversial content, saying some stories need to portray difficult or uncomfortable subjects because they can be important for future generations.
He described Toxic as a story that demanded him to take risks and move beyond his usual boundaries.
Yash also revealed that Toxic has been made with younger audiences in mind.
He said the film explores issues faced by Gen Z, particularly their interactions and differences with older generations.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas and co-written by Mohandas and Yash, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups features Yash in the lead role alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.
The film marks Yash’s return to the big screen after KGF: Chapter 2 (2022).
