A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking a stay on the 50th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary examination, which is scheduled to be held before the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

Advocate Najmus Sakib filed the petition on behalf of the examinees at the relevant branch of the High Court. He confirmed the matter to journalists on Wednesday.

According to a notice issued by the Public Service Commission (PSC), the preliminary test for the 50th BCS is slated to take place on 30 January, from 10am am to 12pm. The examination is set to be held simultaneously across centres in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh.

The PSC previously published the official notification for the 50th BCS on its website on 26 November last year. The application process commenced on 4 December and concluded on 31 December.
