A factory worker died after being assaulted in Dhaka’s Kadamtali over previous enmity. His father is Abdul Malek.
Rasel, 28, was from Fatullah in Narayanganj.
Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital declared him dead around 3am Wednesday after he was brought in critically injured.
His mother, Maksuda Begum, said Rasel was walking home along the Munshikhola riverbank early Tuesday after watching Argentina’s football match when one Md Hanif, 30, and two to three others attacked him with rods and sticks. Severely injured, he was left by the riverbank.
Locals rescued him and admitted him to a Narayanganj hospital. Relatives later saw him there. As his condition worsened, he was moved to ICU and then referred to DMCH, where doctors pronounced him dead.
She added that Hanif had a long‑standing dispute with her son. “They assaulted Rasel with the intention of killing him and left him by the riverbank,” she said.
Inspector Md Faruk, in‑charge of DMCH police camp, said the body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy. Kadamtali police are investigating.
