The 13th edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup has not only delivered thrilling cricket on the field but has also achieved record-breaking viewership figures, according to data released by the ICC and JioHotstar.

The first 13 matches of the 2025 tournament have reached over 60 million viewers, a fivefold increase compared to the previous edition in 2022. Total watch time has also risen dramatically, reaching 7 billion minutes, which marks a twelvefold rise from the last tournament.

The India versus Pakistan clash on 5 October in Colombo set a historic benchmark, becoming the most-watched women’s international cricket match ever. The high-stakes encounter attracted 28.4 million viewers and generated 1.87 billion minutes of watch time.

Another significant milestone was reached during the India versus Australia match on 12 October in Visakhapatnam, which drew 4.8 million peak concurrent viewers on JioHotstar, setting a new all-time high for women’s cricket on digital platforms.

Television viewership has also seen a remarkable surge. The India-Pakistan fixture became the highest-rated league-stage match in ICC Women’s ODI World Cup history, highlighting the growing popularity of women’s cricket among fans.

The first 11 matches of the tournament, including India’s group-stage games against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and South Africa, reached a combined audience of 72 million. This reflects a 166 percent increase from the previous edition, while total viewing minutes jumped 327 percent to 6.3 billion.

India’s campaign began with a comprehensive win over Sri Lanka, led by a strong all-round performance from Deepti Sharma and key contributions from Sneh Rana and Amanjot Kaur.

As the tournament enters its decisive phase, with each India match now a virtual must-win, the 2025 World Cup continues to break new ground in its promotion and presentation of women’s cricket.
