Police recovered the slit-throat bodies of three family members, including a woman and two children, from their home in Monipur village from Cumilla’s Homna on Monday.
The victims were identified as Sukhi Akter, wife of Saudi expatriate Zahirul Islam, their four-year-old son Hossain, and six-year-old Zobaied, son of another expatriate, Sattar.
Local sources said unidentified assailants entered the house at night and attacked the family with sharp weapons before fleeing.
Relatives discovered the bloodied bodies in the morning and alerted authorities.
Homna police arrived at the scene and sent the bodies to Cumilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Homna police chief Morshedul Alam said the motive for the killings remains unknown.
“Evidence has been collected from the site, and an investigation is underway,” he added.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to prevent further incidents.
Homna police OC (Investigation) Dinesh Dashgupta confirmed that the bodies of the three victims were recovered after receiving the report.
“Preliminary findings indicate they were killed with sharp weapons. We are working to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Legal proceedings are ongoing,” he said.
