Marvel is introducing a new threat for Wolverine in The Uncanny X-Men #38, with four clones of the iconic mutant set to challenge Logan later this year, writes Collider.

The development comes as X-Men fans await Marvel Studios’ upcoming reboot, which is scheduled to hit theatres in 2028.

Marvel has already announced several members of the cast, including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.

However, Wolverine remains notably absent from the announced lineup. Hugh Jackman has played the character for more than two decades across Fox’s X-Men films and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It remains unclear whether Marvel will leave Wolverine out of its new team or introduce a younger actor in the role.

While fans wait for the next live-action version, Wolverine is also getting a new interpretation in Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac Games’ upcoming title, with Liam McIntyre voicing the titular mutant.

Meanwhile, Marvel is giving Logan a different kind of challenge in The Uncanny X-Men #38.

Written by Gail Simone and illustrated by Juan Frigeri, the issue will introduce four Wolverine clones described as damaged mutants transformed into brutal, low-cost versions of the original.

The clones share Wolverine’s DNA but lack his memories and experience, making their confrontation with Logan particularly personal.

The new cover for the issue teases the four dangerous copies, who will force Wolverine to team up with other X-Men characters, including Nightcrawler.

The Uncanny X-Men #38 is scheduled to arrive in comic book stores on 4 November.

Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine is set to launch on 15 September and will feature several familiar Marvel characters, including Jean Grey, Sabretooth, Omega Red and Nathaniel Essex.

The game follows Wolverine on a dangerous personal mission as he works alongside other mutants to protect young mutants in a world where the X-Men have yet to be formed by Charles Xavier or another leader.

Insomniac has not confirmed whether Marvel’s Wolverine will receive a sequel, with its future likely to depend on the game’s reception and success.
