Security arrangements have been strengthened across Lutyens’ Delhi on Monday as INDIA Bloc prepares to march from Connaught Place to the Supreme Court to protest alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demand action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The planned march follows two consecutive days of heightened security and detentions across Delhi. Police have barricaded roads leading to Jantar Mantar and deployed personnel at major intersections to prevent protesters from assembling at the designated protest site, reports Hindustan Times.

On Sunday, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi called on other opposition parties to join the protest march.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has turned down INDIA bloc leaders’ request for a meeting to submit a representation over alleged electoral irregularities. He said they should file a petition before the court, as the matter is already sub judice.
