BNP central executive committee’s Joint International Affairs Secretary Rumeen Farhana has said that she wants the party’s candidates in all 300 seats.
She said, “We have suffered for 17 years, we want the party’s candidates in 300 seats. Whoever the party nominates will be qualified.”
She said this in response to questions from journalists at a reception and introductory meeting organised by the Ashuganj Upazila branch of the Nationalist Olama Dal at Tarua Balika High School field in Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria, on Saturday evening.
Rumeen Farhana said, “BNP is a large political party; it has struggled for 17 years and made sacrifices. Discussions are ongoing regarding the formation of an alliance between the BNP and other parties. The seats requested by the alliance have been put on hold. Candidates have not been announced for many seats, but candidates for those seats will be announced soon.”
She further said, “I was with the people, I am with them, and I will remain with them. Reaching this stage has involved the hard work and financial contributions of the people. I will stand by whatever decision the people of Sorail-Ashuganj make.”
The meeting, conducted by Ashuganj Upazila Olama Dal Convener Gazi Delowar Hossain Belali, was presided over by Tarua Union BNP Vice President Md Tofazzal Hossain Saimolla.
