The country’s main Eid-ul-Fitr prayers will be held at the National Eidgah at 8:30am on Eid day, with five additional congregations scheduled at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
Preparations at the Eidgah ground have been completed, including thorough cleaning, installation of large pandals, and heightened security measures to ensure smooth arrangements.
According to the Islamic Foundation, Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram, will lead the main prayers at the National Eidgah, while Maulana Md Abu Saleh Patwary will serve as the alternate imam.
At Baitul Mukarram, five successive congregations will be held at 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am, and 10:45am, led by senior imams. Maulana Shahidul Islam will act as the alternate imam.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman are expected to join the main congregation at the National Eidgah.
The Eidgah ground, spanning 25,400 square metres, can accommodate around 35,000 worshippers, with separate entry and prayer arrangements for women. Facilities such as fans, lighting, air-conditioning, and drinking water have been ensured, alongside rain protection and improved drainage systems.
If weather conditions deteriorate, the main congregation will be shifted to Baitul Mukarram at 9am.
Additionally, an Eid congregation will be held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 8am, with MPs, officials, and local devotees expected to attend. Separate arrangements for women have also been made there.
Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation’s central Eid prayers will take place at 8:00 am at the old Trade Fair ground near the China-Bangladesh Friendship Exhibition Center in Agargaon.
