Web-based game “Gupto Dhor,” which symbolically reflects Bangladesh’s social realities and contemporary context, has been played a total of 12,69,431 times from 38,157 unique devices within the first five days of its launch.
According to the developers, the game has been designed as a symbolic digital experience to identify the presence of “hidden” forces and unseen negative elements within society. It has drawn notable attention from users in a short period of time.
The game features five thematic stages, each representing a specific social reality and related threat in symbolic form. Players encounter different “Gupto” characters throughout the stages, including “Gupto Dhoroshok”, “Khuni Gupto”, “Gupto Rajakar”, “Gupto Rogkata Shontrashi” and “Gupto Chadabaj.”
Some users say the visual design and presentation of these characters are timely and aligned with Bangladesh’s social context.
Developers said the game has been built using modern gaming technology to ensure stable and smooth performance across devices. Key features include quick response, fluid gameplay, effective performance on low- and mid-range devices, and a user-friendly interface.
Many players have been sharing their “Gupto Dhor score” on social media platforms, contributing to the game’s growing reach.
Data shows that 87 percent of users are from Bangladesh, while the rest have joined from Saudi Arabia, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Germany, Oman and several other countries.
Observers believe “Gupto Dhor” demonstrates that web games can go beyond entertainment, serving as a platform for symbolic representation of social realities and contemporary discussions in digital form.
However, most political analysts see this as a creative tactic of the anti-Jamaat-e-Islami campaign ahead of the national election.
With the national election scheduled for 12 February 2026, stakeholders say the game may add a new dimension to conversations around social awareness, digital culture and local content development.
