Bangladesh will play their final T20 series of the year when they face Ireland in a three match contest starting after their 2–0 Test series win, with team director Abdur Razzak insisting the side is focused on ending 2024 on a high.
The Tigers have enjoyed mixed fortunes in the format this year, winning series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka before being swept 3–0 by West Indies. While the ODI and T20 series against West Indies were shared, Bangladesh are aiming to follow their Test success against Ireland with victory in both the ODI and T20 legs.
Speaking to the media before departing Dhaka for Chattogram, Razzak outlined the team’s objectives. “Against West Indies we won one series and lost one. It was decent, but winning both would have been better,” he said. “Our goal in this series is to make sure we wrap up the T20s as well.”
Razzak said he was satisfied with Bangladesh’s overall T20 form this year but stressed that the format depends heavily on momentum. “We have won most of our recent T20 series, in one way or another,” he said. “If you are winning, why call it bad? I do not see it that way. But it is a momentum game, so we need to make sure we hold on to that momentum for longer.”
Chattogram traditionally offers a batting friendly surface, and Razzak expects runs to flow. “The team that keeps momentum for longer wins. We will try to make sure we are that team,” he said. “I have not seen the wicket yet, but we will score whatever runs are needed to win, Inshallah.”
