Visa Inc Group Country Manager for India and South Asia Suresh Sethi will visit Bangladesh on 11–12 May as part of regional engagement with key growth markets, the company said on Monday.
During the visit, Sethi is expected to meet regulators, banking partners, fintech leaders and merchants to strengthen collaboration across Bangladesh’s financial ecosystem and support expansion of digital payments.
He will be accompanied by Sandeep Ghosh, former Visa executive who is transitioning to an external role.
Sethi oversees Visa operations across India, Bangladesh and South Asia, focusing on digital payment adoption, innovation and ecosystem development. The visit underscores Bangladesh’s growing importance within Visa’s regional strategy as the country advances toward a digitally enabled and inclusive financial system.
Bangladesh’s payments landscape is undergoing steady transformation driven by rising consumer adoption of digital transactions and expansion of interoperable cashless payment infrastructure.
Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening partnerships and accelerating secure, efficient digital payment systems across banking and merchant networks.
Sethi previously served as Managing Director and CEO of Protean e-Gov Technologies, where he led development of digital public infrastructure solutions. He was also founding Chief Executive Officer of India Post Payments Bank, where he expanded financial inclusion through doorstep banking using India Post’s network.
Earlier, he held leadership roles at Vodafone M-Pesa India, YES Bank and Citigroup, overseeing transaction banking and payments businesses across multiple regions.
Visa said the visit reflects its continued commitment to Bangladesh and its focus on supporting innovation, financial inclusion and long-term digital economic growth.
In Bangladesh, Visa has worked with financial partners to expand digital payment adoption, including contactless solutions and financial inclusion initiatives such as the Visa Farmers Card in partnership with Sonali Bank.
