It is true that this victory came wrapped in immense sorrow. Yet it is equally true that Karbala represents a unique example of triumph in the struggle for justice one in which survival was not the measure of success. Instead, success lay in defeating deception, preserving principles, and ensuring that those ideals would endure long after the battlefield had fallen silent.
For that reason, the history of Karbala is written in blood, many believe it must also be remembered to as a history of ultimate victory. The eternal hero of that struggle remains Imam Hussain, and, in the victory belongs to his cause.
