Veteran actress Khaleda Aktar Kolpona is currently unwell and undergoing treatment at home, according to members of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association.

The update was shared by executive council member Soni Rahman, who said the National Film Award-winning performer has been experiencing age-related health complications. He added that the association remains in contact and is prepared to offer support if needed.

Kolpona, once a regular presence in Bangladeshi cinema, has stepped away from acting in recent years. Over the course of her career, she appeared in more than 500 films, earning recognition for her versatility across a wide range of roles.

She entered the industry in the mid-1980s through the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation’s talent search initiative. Although her debut project was directed by Mizanur Rahman, her first released film was ‘Radha Krishno’, directed by Matin Rahman.

Before joining the film industry, Kolpona worked as a teacher. Her entry into cinema came unexpectedly after she responded to a newspaper advertisement for the talent hunt. She was later selected following a spontaneous audition at the FDC, marking the beginning of a long and prolific career.

Colleagues and well-wishers have expressed hope for her recovery.
