The United States Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) AKM Shamsul Islam.
The meeting, which included a three-member delegation, was held at defence adviser’s office located at Dhaka Cantonment.
During the session, both sides discussed “excellent bilateral relations” currently existing between Bangladesh and United States, alongside various matters of mutual interest.
Detailed discussions were held regarding the enhancement of cooperation at military level, sharing of experiences, and expansion of joint training activities.
Recalling long-standing friendly ties between two countries, the adviser expressed his optimism that cooperation in defence sector would gain further momentum in coming days.
In response, Christensen highly praised the professionalism of Bangladesh Armed Forces and lauded their significant contributions to international peacekeeping missions.
This courtesy call is expected to further strengthen and expand defence-related cooperation and friendly rapport between Bangladesh and United States in future.
