BNP Secretary General and Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday urged people to forget all divisions and remain united for the interests of the country, its people and the Muslim community.
He made the call after offering Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the central Eidgah ground at Boromath in Thakurgaon in the morning.
Following the prayers, Fakhrul exchanged Eid greetings and pleasantries with local worshippers.
Extending Eid greetings to all, the BNP secretary general said Muslims across the country and around the world were celebrating Eid-ul-Adha with due religious spirit.
He said the act of Qurbani should not be seen merely as slaughtering animals, but as a symbol of truth, devotion and sacrifice in pursuit of closeness to Almighty Allah.
“Through sacrifice, people seek nearness to Allah. It is an important act of worship that we all observe,” he said.
Calling for unity, Fakhrul said, “On this holy occasion, I urge everyone to forget differences and remain united for the interests of the country, the people and the Muslim community.”
He also prayed for peace, safety and wellbeing of Muslims across the world and expressed hope that they would remain free from the sufferings caused by war and conflict.
