An unidentified man, aged approximately 50, died after being struck by a train on the railway tracks in the capital’s Tejgaon area on Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred near Tejgaon station at around 5:30pm.

According to pedestrians Israfil Palash and Md Yasin, the man was hit by a Kamalapur-bound train while he was walking along the railway tracks.

He was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition, where doctors pronounced him dead at approximately 6:45pm.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been established; he was found wearing a checked lungi and a printed long-sleeved shirt.

The DMCH police camp in-charge Inspector Md Faruk said the body has been kept in the morgue for a post-mortem examination. He added that the Dhaka Railway Police have been informed of the incident.
