UCSI University Bangladesh Branch Campus has commemorated Private University Resistance Day 2026 with a programme that paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices of private university students during the historic July uprising.
Speakers at the event on Sunday urged the younger generation to cultivate civic consciousness and responsible leadership to carry forward the legacy of the uprising.
They emphasised that the determination of private university students had set a new benchmark for justice and democratic values in Bangladesh’s national history.
Prominent youth icon and media personality Dipti Chowdhury, speaking as Special Guest, highlighted the continuing relevance of the July movement.
She said the legacy places a profound responsibility on today’s youth to safeguard democratic principles and contribute meaningfully to national progress.
Students Zunaidur Rahman Khan and Bushra Karim Taeen shared firsthand experiences from the frontlines of the protests, recalling the intense struggles and collective determination of the student community.
Adding a faculty perspective, Mostafizur Rahman, Lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science and Digital Innovation (FCSDI), discussed the historical significance of the movement and underscored the irreplaceable role of students in nation‑building.
In his concluding remarks, Major Ahmed Suman Subhan (retd), Provost of UCSI University Bangladesh Branch Campus, reflected on the core lessons of the July movement.
He stressed that national development depends on nurturing informed, socially conscious, and responsible leaders ready to serve society.
The programme began with a powerful visual presentation chronicling the events, sacrifices, and achievements of the July Uprising, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a solemn moment of reflection.
