The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) welcomed newly enrolled Spring 2026 students at a freshers’ orientation programme on 25 July, introducing them to the university’s academic resources, regulations, student clubs and co-curricular opportunities.
Alamzeb Farjad Ahmed, senior vice-chairman of UAP’s Board of Trustees, attended as chief guest, while Mohammad Kaykobad, distinguished professor in BRAC University’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Syed Ershad Ahmed, deputy chairman and vice-president of MAC Holdings (Private) Limited, attended as special guests, UAP said in a press release.
Ahmed welcomed the freshers and encouraged them to pursue academic excellence with discipline, integrity and confidence. He assured them of the Board of Trustees’ support in maintaining a quality learning environment.
Kaykobad thanked the students for choosing UAP and urged them to remain curious, think critically and use the guidance and opportunities available at the university.
Syed Ershad Ahmed described the orientation as the beginning of an important academic journey. He advised students to use UAP’s academic resources and participate in co-curricular activities to develop leadership, teamwork and career-ready skills.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan chaired the programme. He congratulated the students and urged them to maintain discipline and integrity while committing themselves to lifelong learning.
Registrar Brig Gen (Retd) Prof Dr A K M Nazrul Islam and Proctor Prof Dr Aloke Kumar Saha briefed the students on university rules and regulations. Mohammad Rakiv, acting director of the Directorate of Students’ Welfare, introduced the university’s clubs and their regular activities.
Prof Dr Abu Sayeed M Ahmed, dean of the School of Environmental Sciences and Design; Prof Dr M A Baqui Khalily, dean of the School of Business; and Prof Dr Mohammad Shahriar, dean of the School of Pharmacy, also addressed the programme.
Heads of departments, faculty members, administrative staff, freshers and their parents and guardians attended. The programme ended with an interactive session to gather parents’ expectations and strengthen cooperation in supporting students throughout their academic journey.
