Two police officers riding a motorcycle were killed after being hit by an unidentified covered van in Bheramara of Kushtia.
The deceased were identified as Inspector Mozaharul Islam and ASI Kayed Uddin. Both were reportedly serving at Ishwardi DSB in Pabna district.
Officer-in-Charge Abu Obayed of Chaurhas Highway Police Station said the accident occurred around 12 noon on Tuesday after they crossed the Lalon Shah Bridge and were travelling on the Kushtia-bound road.
The two police officers were coming to Kushtia from Ishwardi when an unidentified covered van hit them from behind, killing them on the spot.
He said preparations were underway to send the bodies to the 250-bed Kushtia General Hospital.
