Two motorcyclists were killed in a collision with a mini‑truck in Lohagara upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday.
The accident occurred around 5:30am on the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar highway at Thakur Dighi.
Deceased Firoz Ahmed Touhid, 20, was son of Md Monir Hossain of Sahab Para in Kachua upazila of Chandpur, and Mahi Uddin, 25, was son of Mizan Patwari of Patwari Bari in Shahar Para under the same upazila.
Witnesses said the motorcycle heading toward Chattogram collided with the mini‑truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving rider Firoz dead on the spot.
Pillion rider Mahi Uddin was rescued in critical condition and taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where doctors declared him dead.
Relatives said the two had gone to Cox’s Bazar on a trip and were returning to Chandpur when the accident occurred. Witnesses added that after the crash, the truck driver and his assistant fled, leaving the vehicle at the scene.
CMCH police outpost SI Alauddin Talukder confirmed the incident.
Doha Hazari Highway Police Station Officer‑in‑charge Md Salah Uddin Chowdhury said police recovered one body from the scene and sent the other victim to CMCH, where he was pronounced dead.
Both vehicles are now in police custody. Legal action will be taken, the OC added.
