Six years after first appearing together in a television drama, Khairul Basar and Sunehra Binte Kamal are set to play the two lead roles in a new romantic drama.

The pair first faced the camera together on Valentine’s Day in 2020. Both were newcomers at the time and were still struggling to establish themselves as actors.

Since then, they have grown together in the entertainment industry. Today, both are familiar faces to audiences and popular among fans.

They remain busy with television dramas, films and OTT projects and have become trusted names among directors.

Although they have worked together several times before, this will be their first appearance as the two lead characters in a drama.

Imraul Rafat is directing the romantic drama, although its title has not yet been finalised.

Speaking during a break in filming on Saturday, Sunehra recalled the days when they first began working together.

“It feels like only yesterday, yet six years have passed,” she said.

“At that time, we had both just started our journey. We did not know what our careers would become. So much has changed in between.”

“We are now receiving a great deal of love from audiences and working regularly. But I am especially happy to be acting with Basar.”

Asked what changes she had noticed in Khairul Basar over the years, Sunehra laughed.

“Basar is a very quiet person. That was how I first knew him,” she said.
“He has not changed much. He did not speak much when he came to the shooting set. He is still as gentle and well-behaved as before.”

“The change is that he is now an even better actor. His confidence level has increased. He continues to surpass himself day by day.”

Basar, who was sitting beside Sunehra, later took the phone and shared his own memories of their first work together.

“Our first work was in 2020. I have known Sunehra since then, and she is still the same. She has not changed much,” he said.

“She still smiles quietly, just as she did before. Every now and then, she teases me by asking, ‘How are you? How is everything going?’ It feels as though she is about to say something important or complicated, but then she does not say anything. She just keeps smiling.”

Speaking further about Sunehra, Basar said she was a talented and supportive actress who understood her craft.

“She is a very good and talented actress,” he said. “She is very cooperative and acts with an understanding of the character. We have good chemistry.”

The two actors recently drew attention for their performances together in the serial drama Eta Amaderi Golpo.

They played brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and audiences enjoyed their playful exchanges.

Asked why audiences had wanted to see them together since watching Eta Amaderi Golpo, but they had not yet become an on-screen pair, Sunehra said the decision ultimately rested with directors.

“How can we work together if directors do not cast us?” she said.

“Now many people are offering us stories for projects together. Perhaps we will work together more in the future.”

She also noted that audiences had greatly enjoyed their drama Tomar Pashe Hante Dio, which they worked on together six years ago.

Basar said audiences had started wanting to see them as an on-screen pair again after Mustafa Kamal Raz’s serial Eta Amaderi Golpo.

He added that several production companies were also interested in casting them together as a pair.
