Three people, including two Higher Secondary Certificate examinees, were killed in separate road accidents in Narsingdi on Saturday.
The two students died at around 1:30pm in the Bajnab area on the Itakhola-Monohardi regional road in Shibpur upazila while returning home after sitting an examination.
They were identified as Sadhin, 19, of Baduarchar Puranpara, and Nafis, 22, of Hajipur village in Narsingdi Sadar upazila.
Friends said the students of Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan College sat for their Business Studies marketing examination at Shaheed Asad Collegiate Girls’ School and College.
After the examination, they were travelling home on a motorcycle when it collided head-on with a pickup van carrying chickens towards Shibpur. Both riders were thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.
Police recovered the bodies and took them to Shibpur Upazila Health Complex. In a separate accident, a locally made three-wheeler driver was killed after his vehicle overturned near Radhakhali Bridge on the Puradia-Belabo road in Monohardi upazila.
The deceased was identified as Shawon, 30, son of Faruk Hossain of Brahmanergaon village under Borochapa union.
Police said one of the vehicle’s wheels suddenly came off, causing Shawon to lose control before the three-wheeler crashed into a roadside tree.
He died at the scene.
Belabo Police Station Officer-in-Charge SM Aman Ullah said the body was handed over to the family without a post-mortem examination as the relatives did not file a complaint.
