Ismael Saibari scored the fastest goal of World Cup 2026 so far on Saturday, netting after 71 seconds as Morocco beat Scotland 1-0. Hours later, Paraguay’s Matías Galarza broke that mark, scoring in 64 seconds during a 1-0 win over Turkey.
Saibari struck early at Boston Stadium, finishing a sharp move to put Morocco ahead inside the first minute. Galarza then went six seconds quicker at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, firing a powerful strike from outside the box. Turkey goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakır had no chance to react.
Both goals move their teams closer to the knockout rounds. Neither time, though, threatens the all-time World Cup record. Hakan Sukur still holds that mark, scoring in 11 seconds for Turkey against South Korea in 2002. Only 13 players have scored inside the first minute of a men’s World Cup match.
Galarza now holds the fastest goal of the 2026 tournament. Whether his record survives the rest of the World Cup remains to be seen.
