Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam and State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat have assured that Turkish aviation services company Celebi Aviation would be given priority in the appointment process for ground handling operations at the country’s airports.
The assurance was given during a courtesy meeting held at Secretariat on Tuesday between representatives of Celebi Aviation and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen and Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Fahmida Akhter were also present at the meeting.
During the session, Celebi Aviation representatives expressed a keen interest in participating in ground handling operations to enhance service quality at Bangladeshi airports.
The representatives highlighted the firm’s technical expertise and its willingness to support improvements in operational efficiency and passenger handling.
The civil aviation minister emphasised the government’s current focus on strengthening and internationalising aviation infrastructure.
She particularly pointed to the strategic importance of Cox’s Bazar Airport in advancing the nation’s tourism sector, indicating that there are potential collaboration opportunities for Celebi Aviation in developing ground handling services at that specific airport.
State Minister Millat invited the company to submit a detailed concept paper outlining proposals to improve passenger service standards across all airports in Bangladesh.
Furthermore, both sides discussed broader cooperation prospects under public-private partnership (PPP) frameworks, aimed at boosting the country’s tourism and aviation service capacity.
