Ireland started the T20I series with a strong win against Bangladesh after their heavy loss in the Test series. Their bowlers dominated the match, and Matthew Humphreys stood out with four wickets for only 13 runs.

Humphreys’ spell drew a lot of attention after the game. Speaking at the press conference, Lorcan Tucker said, “(Humphreys) bowled with great accuracy. He kept his line. He was rewarded for the work he did. It was a great spell. Overall, he did really well.”

Tucker then explained Ireland’s plan with the new ball. He said, “We tried to be as accurate as possible with the ball early on. Matthew and Mark (Adair) did their jobs very well. I think on this wicket, if you bowl accurately, you get the reward. That’s how we approached it today.”

Bangladesh struggled from the start. They lost four wickets for only 20 runs in the powerplay. Many felt the match was already gone. Tucker responded to that and said, “Maybe not exactly, but very few teams win after losing four wickets in the powerplay. We knew that. Everyone worked hard. Everyone tried to stay accurate. We wanted to keep Bangladesh under pressure for a long time. That’s how everyone succeeded.”

Ireland kept their attack tight and maintained pressure throughout the innings. Their plan of simple, accurate bowling worked perfectly on the day.
